On April 23, the Minyue networking project started. With an investment of 3.2 billion yuan and a transmission capacity of 2 million kilowatts, the project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission on December 1, 2020, and is planned to be completed and put into operation in 2022. The project will build a new DC back-to-back converter station in Fujian Province, which will be connected to the 500kV substations in Donglin and Jiaying respectively through two 500kV AC lines, with a total length of 303 kilometers. After the completion of the project, it will become the second interconnection channel between the State Grid and the Southern Power Grid after the Three Gorges - Guangdong ±500 kV HVDC project.
